Michigan gets boost on lead line replacement aid but worries remain
Washington — The state that is home to the Flint and Benton Harbor water crises is getting a slight boost from a revised formula for allocating federal money for the removal of lead service lines around the country. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced Tuesday that it revised its funding formula to account for which states have the most lead service lines needing removal or replacement, and that Michigan would be getting $72.9 million in funding this year, up 5% from $69.4 million in last year’s tranche.
